Interactive Lighthouse Camera
The South Haven South Pierhead Light is a lighthouse in Michigan, at the entrance to the Black River on Lake Michigan. The station was lit in 1872, and is still operational. The tower is a shortened version of the Muskegon South Pierhead Light, and replaced an 1872 wooden tower. The catwalk is original and still links the tower to shore: it is one of only four that survive in the State of Michigan. To learn more or to support the Light, visit https://southhavenlight.org
Weather Buoy Cam
The Lake Michigan Weather Buoy off South Haven has been placed for the season. The buoy is a project of the South Haven Steelheaders with support from several businesses and organizations. It has been placed in the lake annually since 2014.

Beach Flag Status

Beach Flag Key

The South Haven beach flag season runs annually from May 15th to September 15th. In-season, South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) staff update flags at seven public beaches daily between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to indicate water safety conditions.

🟩 A GREEN FLAG indicates there are calm conditions. Caution should always be exercised when entering the water.
🟨 A YELLOW FLAG indicates there is a moderate surf and/or currents. Caution should always be exercised when entering the water.

🟥 A RED FLAG indicates the water is closed to the public due to the high surf and/or strong currents. Rip currents are especially prevalent and dangerous along the piers. Fines issued for persons in the water during RED flag conditions.

⬜ A GRAY FLAG appearing on a map indicates that either no information is available, conditions are not being monitored (9pm-9am), or the Beach Safety Program is out-of-season (Sept. 15 - May 15).

A GREEN/OPEN GATE indicates a pier is open to the public.

A RED/CLOSED GATE indicates a pier is closed to the public. Fines issued for persons on a pier that is closed.

March 25, 2026: South Haven: The weather was poor again the past week. Pier fishing was also slow for coho salmon. Fishing pressure was low overall.
