Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

In and around South Haven! - South Haven
Cross-country skiers and snowshoers are permitted to use the Kal-Haven Trail, but extreme caution must be exercised because this trail is shared with snowmobilers. Other spots to cross-country ski and snowshoe are the Ross Nature Preserve Near Covert, the Van Buren State Park, the Van Buren Trail, Sarett Nature Center, and the Allegan Cross Country Ski Trail. Both can also be experienced on local beaches!

Kal-Haven Trail

Enjoy a hike, bike ride, horseback ride, or a leisurely stroll on this 34-mile trail from South Haven to Kalamazoo. Travel through small towns, countryside, beautiful wooded areas, and pass points of historical interest. Towns along the way have food and lodging for trail users. Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Snowmobilers must have the Michigan Snowmobile Permit.

Lakeside Entertainment Center

Lakeside is a beautiful 16 lane center that has been family owned and operated since 1987. We feature a full service restaurant (with banquet facilities), a cocktail lounge, an eighteen hole miniature golf course, a 16 lane bowling center and a lot of fun! 

Murdoch Nursery

The Murdoch Nursery has a large variety of shade trees, ornamental trees, evergreen trees and flowering trees all ready to plant. We also have daylilies, hosta, ground cover, and some perenials. We have Christmas trees in pots and a large selection of cut your own Christmas Trees. Located 5 miles north of South Haven on Blue Star Hwy, turn east on 107th Avenue.

Sarett Nature Center

Over 5 miles of walking trails that can be explored on your own or with a naturalist. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and programs for all ages.

Snowmobiling on the Kal-Haven Trail

Wells Street - South Haven
Snowmobilers are required to purchase a Michigan Snowmobile Trail Permit to use the trail. There must be a minimum of 4 inches of snow. Snowmobiles must be registered with the Michigan Secretary of State and riders MUST display a snowmobile Trail Permit. Annual Michigan Snowmobile Trail Permits are sold for $35.
