New this year, we will be having a best parade entry prize! Put together your most festive ideas for our nighttime (think lights) parade for your chance to win $500. Winner will be announced at the tree lighting ceremony directly after the parade.

By submitting this application, participants agree to all conditions set forth, including the facts, policies and regulations.

Applicants stipulate that parade organizers and their agents, employees and representatives have made no promises regarding parade position of any kind.

Participant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the South Haven Van Buren County Conventions and Visitors Bureau, the City of South Haven, and all Parade Committee members,

agents, employees, volunteers and assigns from and against any and all liability, loss, costs, demands, claims, fines, debts or judgments that anyone may sustain or incur

as a result of involvement in the parade, such indemnification to include reasonable attorney fees.


BY SIGNING THE APPLICATION, I AGREE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL FACTS, POLICIES AND REGULATIONS.

Parade Policies & Rules

1. Children under 12 should be accompanied by a parent or adult.

2. Political entries will not be included in the Holiday Parade in order to maintain the festive nature of the event.

3. All mechanical equipment must be in sound condition, carry a fire extinguisher, be at the assigned formation position and ready for inspection by parade officials.

4. Entry and participants may be asked to show proof of insurance.

5. Placement in the parade lineup is at the sole discretion of the parade committee.

6. The organizers of the parade reserve the right to deny participation of any individual or organization that is unable to abide by these parade policies or that may be disruptive to the parade or other parade participants.

7. No objects of any kind may be thrown at spectators. Do not throw candy or other items from a moving vehicle. Throwing items, particularly candy, draws people, primarily children, into the path of the vehicles in the parade, which is extremely dangerous. It is OK for a pedestrian who accompanies the float or vehicle to hand out candy along the street curbs on the parade route. IT IS ILLEGAL AND VERY DANGEROUS TO THROW CANDY OR ITEMS FROM MOVING VEHICLES. CANDY IS APPRECIATED BY THE PARADE WATCHERS, BUT MUST BE HANDED OUT.
