The Idler Riverboat

Yes, you can dine on a real riverboat in South Haven. The Idler Riverboat has been around in South Haven for over 100 years. You can dine al fresco on the Idler’s deck or take your happy hour inside at the bar. Either way, you’re sure to have a great time on the Idler. Everyday is different with rotating food and drink specials made fresh daily. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, burgers, appetizers, and breakfast food and make your own Bloody Marys on the weekends. If you’re coming for drinks, be sure to try their famous South Haven Ice Tea or an Oyster Shooter.

Captain Lou’s

You can walk from the beach, drive or take your boat to Captain Lou’s. This happy hour spot is perfect for lazy summer afternoons watching the boats pass by on the Black River. The outdoor seating area is where you’ll find people dancing to live music on summer nights. You’ll find a variety of Michigan craft beers, cocktails, and their famous rum runners on the drink menu at Captain Lou’s. If you’re coming for lunch or dinner, the signature perch basket is a must try along with several other tasty appetizer, sandwich and seafood options.

South Haven Brewpub

South Haven Brewpub was the first brewpub in the area. It’s located in Old Harbor Village with a patio and live music stage overlooking the Black River. The brewery makes their own rotating and seasonal beers with favorite brews including Toes in the Sand IPA and Not Your Grandma’s Oatmeal Cookie Stout. The food menu has all your typical brewpub favorites, but they’re best known for their homemade pizzas. If you’re in South Haven regularly, you can become a member of the Beer Club and get $2 off pints and 10% off food on Wednesdays.
