Bangor-South Haven Heritage Water Trail

This water trail is one of 9 designated heritage water trails in Michigan, offering 15 interpretive signs along the river. There are two “family-friendly” sections on this 23-mile water trail. The section between County Road 687 and the Basic Family Access (CR 384) is called the "wilderness section," and paddlers can expect obstacles, major ones.

Bernida

Bernida is a Universal Rule R Class Sloop and a thoroughbred racing yacht.  She made her way to the Great Lakes in 1925 and won the inaugural Bayview-Port Huron Mackinac Race later that summer.  She won again in 1927. After refurbishment in 2010, she entered the Bayview-Port Huron to Mackinac Race in 2012 and repeated her victory of 87 years before. She was donated to the Michigan Maritime Museum within weeks of her triumph. She is fast and elegant; like the 1920’s. Come join the Museum and the crew to experience Bernida yourself!

Black River Park and Boat Launch

It's also the perfect spot to jump onto the Bangor/South Haven Heritage Water Trail and travel up the river enjoying the natural sights. It's even handicapped accessible so everyone can have the chance to enjoy this serene park.

Friends Good Will is a replica of a top sail merchant sloop that plied the waters of the Great Lakes in the early 19th century. Staff and volunteer crew, dressed in period clothes, offer passengers a glimpse into the life and operations of a Great Lakes sailor. Friends Good Will offers historical sails, pirate chaser sails, sunset sails, and even acts as a classroom for school groups to learn about early Michigan history and the Great Lakes.

Merry Time is a 1929 Chris Craft Cadet made of gorgeous mahogany. One of just over 1,000 Chris Craft Cadets built since 1927, the boat, hull number 1886, is capable of travelling as fast as 35 mph. Today this classic beauty takes Michigan Maritime Museum visitors out for a ride unlike any other.
