From I-196: Exit 20, turn west off of exit ramp onto Phoenix Road. At the first light, turn south onto Blue Star Highway. Continue to 76th Street. Turn west onto 76th Street and go to 13th Avenue. 13th Avenue curves onto Roper and then back to 13th again. Follow it a short distance to the end and you will be in the beach access parking lot. Free parking. Portable toilets and dog friendly.

Michigan Strawberries, u-pick or picked. We supply containers. First few weeks in June. Open daily 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Mandigo Farms... since 1955. We have picnic tables with umbrellas. Bring a lunch and make a day of it. We are also one block from 3 Mile Lake. There is a public beach for swimming and fun.

North Beach Concession Stand

This beach concession stand has a great selection of food! Hot dogs, Polish sausage, brats, shredded BBQ pork sandwich, nachos, and popcorn. Also 16 flavors of Sherman's ice cream, cones, malts, shakes, and hot fudge sundaes. Soft serve ice cream ("Flurries"--so good), root beer floats, soft drinks, shaved ice drinks (lots of flavors), and freshly squeezed lemonade! They sell t-shirts, sunglasses, beach toys, etc. Volleyballs/nets are available for rent.

Pilgrim Haven Natural Area offers a beautiful sample of lakeshore habitats. A barrier-free concrete walk to the beach allows people of all abilities to reach the shore where they can enjoy the waves and sunsets near the water. One-third mile of easy trail through woods and meadows that leads to Lake Michigan overlooks and barrier-free paved access to the beach. Scenic views. Swimming. Wildlife Viewing. Hiking. Snowshoeing. Canoeing/Kayaking.

Splash Pad

Our incredible new lakefront splash pad provides a wonderful alternative water play environment for kids and families! Modeled after the Michigan Maritime Museum's tall ship Friends Good Will, our splash pad will provide kids with great memories and experiences. Located just east of South Beach on the Black River channel. 

 

Splash Pad Rules

The splash pad is open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, May 1 through Septemeber 30th.

 

To activate the splash pad, press the button on the top of the red post.

· No lifeguard on duty. Participate at your own risk.

· Keep all animals off the splash pad area (except service animals).

· An adult must accompany children under 12; no child is to be left unattended.

· Individuals engaging in running, horseplay, profane language, or unsafe/disruptive behavior will be asked to leave the splash pad play area.

· Infants and toddlers MUST wear a swim diaper.

· Food, drinks, or gum are not permitted on the splash pad itself.

· The splash pad area is a tobacco-free zone.

· No weapons, alcohol, glass, wheeled vehicles (except wheeled medical equipment), skateboards, scooters, or rollerblades in the splash pad play area.

· Proper attire must be worn at all times. Street shoes are prohibited. Sandals, flip flops, or appropriate deck wear is recommended.

· For your safety, do not hang, swing, climb, or pull on splash pad equipment.

· In case of a thunderstorm, lightning, or severe weather of any kind, vacate the splash pad area immediately.

· Bathing is not permitted.

· The use of soap, detergent, or shampoo is not permitted.

· All other park rules, City ordinances, and policies apply.

Van Buren State Park

Park has biking, hiking, and metal detecting. There is a beach, picnic area with shelter, playground, and restrooms. Out of state car parking for the day is $11, Michigan residents can purchase the Recreation Passport for $11 (annual pass for all Michigan State Parks), or parking is free if you already have the Recreation Passport. An out of state annual parking pass is $32.
