The theme for 2019 is: Women ROCK – Celebrating women throughout history! 

From First Ladies to performers, astronauts, scientists, visionaries, artists - this year, honor any woman you admire! Rosie the Riveter, Amelia Earhart, Gloria Steinem, Marilyn Monroe: Love the material girl? Dress like Madonna from one of her videos. Love science? How about Marie Curie? History your thing? How about Eleanor Roosevelt? There are so many amazing women in history, you may want to honor more than one! Michelle Obama, Audrey Hepburn, Susan B. Anthony, Frida Kahlo – the list is endless! Games and music celebrating all decades – having fun with your friends and celebrating women – what could be better? Join us November 7-10!

 

Schedule of Events

Thursday, November 7

Evening

WOW Registration and Check-In, South Haven Visitors Bureau, 546 Phoenix Street, 1 – 6 PM: Have a mimosa and some refreshments as you pick up your goodie bags and information for your fabulous weekend.

 

Open Houses, Lodging properties throughout town: Grab some small bites and a glass of wine as you settle into your hotel or B&B for the weekend.

 

Women Throughout History - Search, Downtown, All day until 5 PM Saturday: With the game card pages in your "passport," find photos of famous women throughout history in participating merchant locations.  Then, turn in your game card at the brunch Sunday for the prize drawing!   We'll have a nice prize package for two guests drawn from the correct entries.  Prizes will be given out at the brunch.  

 

Trivia / Musical Bingo Night, Three Blondes Brewing, 7 – 9 PM: Test your knowledge of tunes throughout time and get in the running for a $200 cash prize! Appetizer specials too!

 

Open Mic, Karaoke, Music and More!  9 – 11 PM: The fun keeps going at Three Blondes Brewing!  Join us for open mic night, karaoke and fun at the ultimate girls’ night out! Free to attend; food specials too!

 

Friday, November 8

Morning / Afternoon

Downtown Fun, Downtown Stores: From mimosas in the morning to special artisan workshops in the afternoon, you'll find tons of fun and “Celebrating Women Throughout History” inspired events around town!

 

Women Throughout History - Search, Downtown, All day until 5 PM Saturday: With the game card pages in your "passport," find photos of famous women throughout history in participating merchant locations.  Then, turn in your game card at the brunch Sunday for the prize drawing!   We'll have a nice prize package for two guests drawn from the correct entries.  Prizes will be given out at the brunch.  

 

Martha Stewart Doesn't Live Here, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Upper Level of Café Julia, Join Sally, of WOW fame, to hang out with your girlfriends, make some new friends, and craft. We will have fun with decoupage, rock painting, mosaic, or bring a craft you have been wanting to try! Totally casual fun for those who want to do something different. Watch for a Facebook post with more details and a list of some supplies to bring along. Made to order coffee drinks and food items will be available for purchase at Julia’s and you can bring your own adult beverage to enjoy throughout the day! 

 

Join local artist, Theresa Wiles, as she joins us Friday and Saturday at the Martha Stewart Doesn’t Live Here craft event at Café Julia. Theresa will be creating hand painted Holiday Ornaments that are so cute you can’t stand it! She may even create a custom piece just for you. She will be at Julias both days from 11am-1pm so don’t miss it!

 

Wine Tasting at Cogdal Vineyards, 3:00 – 6:00, Cogdal Vineyards invites you to come out, relax in their beautiful tasting room and sample their amazing wine selection. They’ve made arrangements for transportation, picking up guests at the entrance at the Baymont, out to Cogdal Vineyards and back. Choose from two times:  3:00 or 4:30. There is room for 14 guests per trip. The transportation and wine tasting are complementary. All WOW participants receive ten percent off their wine bottle purchases during WOW weekend. So call right away to reserve your spot: 269-637-2229.  

 

Evening

Women Rock! Baymont Inn & Suites, 7:30 – 10:30 PM: Join in all the excitement at the Baymont Inn & Suites for “decades” of fun featuring singer Tony Fields and keyboardist/backing vocalist Doug Decker.

 

Transportation: The WOW shuttle will be running from the Baymont to downtown both Friday and Saturday nights.   Continuous loop with stops behind City Hall and at the event entrance at the Baymont begin at 7:00 pm through 11:00 pm.  

 

Saturday, November 9

Morning

Women's Only Weekend – Fun Run / Walk: 9:30 AM Riverfront Park Marina. Begin your day at Riverfront Park Marina to sign in then make your way around the harbor from the South Pier Lighthouse to the North Pier.  Check in at the South Marina; you'll get a fun souvenir prize when you arrive at the North Pier!  

 

“A League of Their Own” Showing at Michigan Theatre: 9:30 AM Enjoy pastries and coffee while you watch "A League of Their Own ," compliments of Moore Theatres. Doors open at 9:30 am; movie begins at 10:00.

Holiday Ornament Decorating Workshop, South Haven Center for the Arts, 1 – 2:30 PM: The South Haven Center for the Arts invites you to come down to their holiday-themed, Holiday Ornament Workshop.  $5 donation appreciated.

 

Cooking Class, Taste, 2:30 - 3:00 PM: Join Chef Joel of Taste and learn how to prepare a wonderful menu item with a nod to Julia Child! Class size is limited; call Taste at 269-637-0010 to reserve your place!  

 

Evening

Women Rock!  Baymont Inn & Suites, 7:30 – 10:30 PM: The “decades” of fun keep on going featuring the fabulous Ring of Music Band and Orchestra, spotlight dances, photo booth, costume contest, prizes, dance contest, with the winner determined by the audience and more.

 

Sunday, November 10

Brunch, Sophie's and The Old Vineyard Catered by Phoenix Street Café, Downtown, 8 – 11 AM: Keep the fun going and join us as Sophie's and Phoenix Street Café host a delicious brunch buffet. Phoenix Street Café will be serving up made to order omelets along with an amazing assortment of other brunch selections. Sophie’s is working on something special as well! Those who came to the brunch last year know how amazing and well attended it was! We came up with two incredible options for a lovely brunch experience. A great way to energize for another day of exploring all the downtown shops!
