Spectacular fireworks display beginning at dusk, visible from North and South beach, and the surrounding area!
The Michigan Fireworks Safety Act from 2011 was amended in December 2018 allowing municipalities to place more limits on consumer fireworks.
At their June 17, 2019 regular meeting, City Council passed an amendment to the fireworks ordinance. Effective immediately, consumer fireworks are allowed only:
Between 11:00am and 1:00am on December 31;
From 11:00am to 11:45pm on the Saturday and Sunday preceding Memorial Day;
Between 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3 and July 4 and on July 5 if that date is a Friday or Saturday; and 11:00am and 11:45pm on the Saturday or Sunday preceding Labor Day.
The fines have also increased to a maximum penalty of $1000.
