Michigan Maritime Museum

The Michigan Maritime Museum is more than just a boat ride, and more than just old things. It's a playground for the imagination. A citadel of knowledge. A place that can reignite events that have flickered away, and sometimes, even if only momentarily, snuff out the hard realities of the present... A place where grandfathers watch grandkids chase pirates on the deep blue waters of a saltless sea. A place where school kids satiate their curiosity with hands-on lessons in navigation. And where whole families make memories as they board an historic river launch to ply the still waters of the Black River. It is the place to get out on the water, have fun, and learn about Michigan maritime history.

The Michigan Maritime Museum is unique among museums because it offers nearly a half dozen different sailing and river boat excursions on both historic and replica vessels. Vessels include the Museum's beloved tall ship, Friends Good Will, a replica of a 200-year-old Man-O-War; Bernida, the historic 1921 Universal Rule R Class Sloop; the lovely Lindy Lou, a quiet canopied electric-powered replica launch; Flashback, a 1956 19-foot-long Lightning one-design-class racing sailboat; a 1929 Chris Craft Cadet, a beautiful and romantic wood boat; and the 36-foot-long 1941 Coast Guard Motorized Life Boat. This vessel comes to the Museum after starring in the Disney movie, "The Finest Hours," released in late January of 2016. Make your plans now to ride the waves of history at the Michigan Maritime Museum.
