The 14-mile long Van Buren Trail is accessed at Van Buren State Park. A multi-use trail, it connects South Haven to Hartford, meandering through blueberry patches, meadows, farmland and open spaces.

An icon along the Blue Star Highway (West Michigan Pike), renovations preserve its distinguished heritage while updates challenge a new generation of golfers.
Other legendary courses include the highly-rated HawksHead Links, designed by internationally renowned golf architect Arthur Hills. The course draws about 20,000 golfers annually. The Beeches residential development and 18-hole championship golf course designed by Bruce Matthews III is located just four miles from downtown South Haven. Family-friendly Glenn Shores Golf Course is a nine-hole, par 35 course. In nearby Bloomingdale, Jeptha Lake Golf Course offers a nine-hole, par 27 spread. It features tournaments played at night with glow-in-the-dark golf balls.
